Ballarat Orthopaedics are a group of surgeons committed to their community.

They display this by providing public treatment in public hospitals throughout our region. They regularly visit Ararat, Stawell, Hamilton, Colac and Maryborough hospitals. The private practice of the group is based at their clinic at 707 Mair Street, providing private surgery at St John of God Hospital, Ballarat Day Procedure Centre, and Ballarat Health Services.

The group of 6 surgeons strive to provide patients of Ballarat, and surrounding districts, with the highest quality patient focused individualised care.

The group all use Local Infiltration Analgesia as a post operative pain management plan, easing and speeding recovery from joint replacement surgery.  Other knee surgery such as cruciate ligament reconstruction and shoulder surgery also benefit from this technique.

David Mitchell is a senior member of Ballarat Orthopaedics and he currently chairs the Medical Staff Group at Ballarat Health Services.  David recently won a Meritorious Conduct Award from the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) for his work in the Ballarat community and his commitment to orthopaedics in Australia.  He is passionate about digital imaging and its potential to improve patient outcomes in Ballarat and the district. This allows GPs to discuss cases directly with the surgeons, expediting the diagnosis and planning treatment of trauma and elective cases.
