Allied Health Referrals
It is possible for Allied Health practitioners to book a patient directly into our rooms.
Our Sports Medicine Registrar can see patients without a GP referral, at no extra cost to the patient. Standard appointments with our Registrar will generally cost the patient no more than $60 out-of-pocket.
Physiotherapy treatments can be partly claimed from your private health insurance extras.
Appointments can be made through our on-line booking system.
If there is a GP referral for the patient, the Medicare rebates are higher, and the patient can be seen directly by a surgeon. Otherwise, our Sports Medicine team will need to see the patient first. The patient’s GP will be notified and approached for input where required. Patients referred by allied health providers will always be advised to return to their referring provider.
We do also see uninsured patients, but recommend referral to Ballarat Health Services if the patient is seeking free treatment. Patients without insurance will be contacted where possible prior to their appointment to ensure they are familiar with the fees, especially if surgery is required.
